Our grandfamilies enjoy participating in activities with their families and being a part of that community that truly understands the problems they face every day. At GFC we strive to make a difference in these families by creating events and places for them to connect. We look for resources that can assist them in their everyday lives. GFC is making efforts to make a difference in the youth that are being raised by someone other than their birth parents. We encourage the youth to be positive and let them know that they are important as well. We get them involved in creating events and mentoring to younger kids.  We hope to create a Grand Family Youth Program. Grand Family Coalition depends on volunteers to help our hard working grandparents organize our events and the activities we host. Our volunteers make our work much easier and they enjoy being a part of an organization that lends a hand to a community that deserves recognition. With the help of volunteers, we can get this work done. We are looking for individuals that truly care about grandfamilies to get this organization to the next level. There are many ways to help and opportunities to develop your skills as well. We need help with developing our resource data base, clerical work, communication efforts, social media connections and more: Fund Raising efforts / Assist with Grant writing (find resources to raise funds) Writing opportunities (Newsletter articles, Power Point Presentations and more) Organizational Skills (Bi-Annual Clothing Swap organizer, Event coordination) Food preparation and event assistance Childcare for summer support groups (Need child care 2nd and 4th Thursday of month) Secretarial Skills (Attend quarterly corporate and special meetings, take minutes and report back) Outreach assistance (make contact with other community agencies to put on our database) Photographers (Attend events and take pictures and place on our website) We need people that can work from home and be able to take direction then take the lead in following through. We need volunteers to assist a few hours a year. Show us your skills and we will put you to good use. Be a part of our organization and make a difference in a family’s life. If you or a family member or friend is interested in lending a hand, please complete our Volunteer Application Form.  Spread the word. Shandell I met Gail in the Fall of 2015, she came to one of my classes at CSU. She presented on GFC and what it meant to her. After just a short 20 minute presentation I could tell that she really had a passion to help grandfamilies and that it was something dear to her heart. That kind of love for a community is something that I was very excited to get involved with. It has been a pleasure and joy to be involved with supporting these families and working with Gail and her staff.
